Editing Allocations

As your growing season progresses, you may need to update allocation information. You can edit any allocation to reflect current conditions, update status, or correct information.

When to Edit an Allocation

Common reasons to edit an allocation:

  • Status change — Crop moved from Planted to Growing, or to Harvested
  • Date adjustments — Planting was delayed or harvest came earlier than expected
  • Area corrections — Actual planted area differs from planned
  • Yield updates — Update expected yield as the season progresses
  • Adding notes — Document observations, problems, or successes

How to Edit an Allocation

Go to Resources → Crops Planning in the left menu.

Find the Allocation

Use the search box or filters to find the allocation you want to edit:

  • Search by crop name, variety, zone, or farm
  • Filter by status, category, season, or farm

Open Edit Menu

Click the three dots menu (â‹®) on the right side of the allocation row and select Edit Allocation.

Update Information

A modal window will open with the current allocation details. You can modify:

  • Crop — Change to a different crop if needed
  • Cultivation Zone — Move the allocation to a different zone
  • Area — Adjust the allocated hectares
  • Status — Update to reflect current state
  • Planting Date — Correct the planting date
  • Expected Harvest Date — Update harvest expectations
  • Expected Yield — Adjust yield predictions
  • Notes — Add or update notes

Save Changes

Click the Update button to save your changes. The allocation will be updated in the database.

Status Workflow

A typical allocation moves through these statuses during a season:

Planned → Planted → Growing → Harvested ↓ Failed

Update the status as your crop progresses through its lifecycle.

Status Descriptions

StatusWhen to Use
PlannedCrop is in your plan but not yet in the ground
PlantedSeeds or seedlings have been planted
GrowingCrop is actively developing
HarvestedCrop was successfully harvested
FailedCrop did not succeed (weather, disease, pests, etc.)

Tip: When marking a crop as Failed, add a note explaining what happened. This information is valuable for future planning.

About Deleting Allocations

Allocations cannot be deleted. This is by design to maintain complete records of your farming operations.

If a crop was cancelled or failed:

  1. Edit the allocation
  2. Change the status to Failed
  3. Add a note explaining the reason

This preserves the historical record while clearly indicating the crop was not successful.

Best Practices

Keep Status Current

Update allocation status regularly so your dashboard and reports reflect reality:

  • Weekly status reviews during active growing season
  • Immediate updates when significant changes occur
  • Mark crops as Harvested as soon as harvest is complete

Document Everything in Notes

Use the notes field to record:

  • Weather events that affected the crop
  • Pest or disease issues
  • Irrigation or fertilization changes
  • Yield observations
  • Lessons learned

These notes become invaluable when planning future seasons.

Verify Area Accuracy

If actual planted area differs from planned:

  1. Edit the allocation to reflect reality
  2. This keeps utilization percentages accurate
  3. Helps with future planning and compliance reporting
