Edit & Delete Equipment

Update equipment information as things change, or remove equipment you no longer need.


Editing Equipment

You can edit any equipment to update its information, change status, or add more details.

Go to Resources → Equipment in the left menu.

Find the Equipment

Use the search box or scroll through the table to find the equipment you want to edit.

Open Edit Menu

Click the three dots menu (â‹®) on the right side of the equipment row and select Edit.

Update Information

A modal window will open with the current equipment details. You can modify any field:

  • Equipment Name — Update the name
  • Equipment Type — Change the type
  • Manufacturer — Add or update manufacturer
  • Model — Add or update model
  • Status — Change current status
  • Category — Update categorization
  • Assigned Farm — Change farm assignment
  • Description & Notes — Add or update notes

Save Changes

Click the Update button to save your changes.


Common Edits

Updating Status

Change equipment status as conditions change:

Adding Details After Bulk Create

If you used Bulk Create or CSV Import, you may want to add more details:

  1. Edit the equipment
  2. Add manufacturer and model
  3. Add description and specifications
  4. Assign to a farm

Reassigning to Different Farm

If equipment moves between farms:

  1. Edit the equipment
  2. Change the Assigned Farm dropdown
  3. Save changes

Deleting Equipment

You can delete equipment that is no longer needed, with one important restriction.

Equipment used in activities cannot be deleted. If equipment has been assigned to any activity (past or present), the delete option will not be available. This ensures your activity records remain complete.

When You Can Delete

The Delete option is available only when the equipment:

  • Has never been assigned to any activity
  • Is not currently in use

How to Delete

Go to Resources → Equipment in the left menu.

Find the Equipment

Locate the equipment you want to delete.

Select Delete

Click the three dots menu (â‹®) on the right side of the equipment row and select Delete.

Confirm Deletion

Confirm your action in the dialog that appears. The equipment will be permanently removed.


When You Cannot Delete

If the equipment has been used in activities, the Delete option will be disabled or not shown.

What to do instead:

  1. Change status — Set status to “Out of Service” to indicate it’s no longer used
  2. Update notes — Add a note explaining why it’s no longer active
  3. Keep for records — The equipment remains for historical activity records

Why this restriction exists: Activities reference specific equipment. If equipment could be deleted, your activity records would have missing information. Keeping the equipment preserves your complete operational history.


Best Practices

Keep Information Current

  • Update status when equipment goes in/out of service
  • Add maintenance notes when repairs happen
  • Update assigned farm when equipment moves

Use Notes Effectively

The Description & Notes field (up to 2000 characters) is great for:

  • Serial numbers and identification
  • Purchase date and warranty information
  • Maintenance history highlights
  • Special operating instructions
  • Contact info for service providers

Don’t Delete, Update

Rather than trying to delete old equipment:

  • Change status to “Out of Service”
  • Add a note with disposal date and reason
  • This keeps records complete for reporting
