Creating a Cultivation Zone
Cultivation zones are added through the farm details page. Each zone belongs to a specific farm, so you first need to select which farm the zone will be created under.
How to Create a Zone
Navigate to Farms
Go to Resources → Farms in the left menu. You will see a list of all farms added to your account.
Open Farm Details
Find the farm where you want to add a cultivation zone. You can open the farm details in two ways:
- Click on the farm name in the table, or
- Click the three dots menu (â‹®) on the right side and select View Details
Click Add Zone
On the farm details page, locate the Cultivation Zones section. Click the Add Zone button.
Fill in Zone Information
A modal window will open where you can enter the zone details:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Zone Name | ✓ | Enter a unique name for this zone (e.g., “North Field”, “Orchard Block 1”) |
| Area (hectares) | âś“ | Enter the size of the zone in hectares |
| Soil Type | — | Select from the dropdown list (Clay, Loam, Sandy, etc.) |
| Production System | — | Select from the dropdown list (Organic, Biodynamic, Conventional, etc.) |
Create the Zone
Click the Create Zone button to save. The new cultivation zone will be added to the database and you will be redirected back to the farm details page where your new zone will be displayed.
Coming Soon (February 2026): In a future update, you will be able to draw zone boundaries directly on a map or import GPS polygon data. The area will then be calculated automatically.
Tips
- Use descriptive names that help you identify zones easily (e.g., location, crop type, or block number)
- You can always edit zone details later if you need to update the area or other information
- Soil type and production system help you organize and filter zones, but are not required
