Future Features
The current version of Crops Planning provides essential allocation tracking. In January 2026, we will release a major update with advanced growth stage tracking and analysis capabilities.
Expected Release: End of January 2026
Growth Stage Tracking
The biggest upcoming feature is automatic tracking of crop growth stages. Every crop goes through predictable stages from planting to harvest, and soon you will be able to monitor exactly where each allocation is in its development.
The 5 Growth Stages
| Stage | Duration | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Germination | 7-14 days | Seeds sprouting, first leaves appearing |
| Vegetative | 3-6 weeks | Active leaf and stem growth, root development |
| Flowering | 1-3 weeks | Flowers appearing, pollination occurring |
| Fruiting | 4-8 weeks | Fruit or seed development and maturation |
| Harvest | 1-2 weeks | Crop ready for collection |
Stage Timeline View
For each allocation, you will see a visual timeline showing:
- Expected dates for each stage
- Current stage highlighted
- Progress within the current stage
- Any delays or advances compared to plan
Stage-Based Planning
Understanding growth stages helps you:
- Plan Activities — Know when to fertilize, irrigate, or spray based on crop development
- Coordinate Resources — Schedule equipment and labor when actually needed
- Track Progress — See if crops are developing on schedule
- Learn from Experience — Compare expected vs. actual timing
- Improve Future Planning — Use historical data for better decisions
Automatic Stage Calculations
When you create an allocation with planting and expected harvest dates, the system will automatically calculate:
- Start and end dates for each growth stage
- Based on crop-specific development patterns
- Adjusted for your local conditions
Example: Tomatoes planted March 15 with expected harvest July 1
| Stage | Expected Start | Expected End |
|---|---|---|
| Germination | Mar 15 | Mar 25 |
| Vegetative | Mar 26 | May 5 |
| Flowering | May 6 | May 20 |
| Fruiting | May 21 | Jun 25 |
| Harvest | Jun 26 | Jul 8 |
Stage Updates and Notes
You will be able to:
- Mark stages as complete when observed in the field
- Add notes to each stage (observations, problems, successes)
- Record actual vs. expected timing
- Document lessons learned for future seasons
Example Workflow
- Walk the field and observe crop development
- Open the allocation in Koru.Farm
- Mark current stage as complete if crop has progressed
- Add any relevant notes
- System updates expected dates for remaining stages
Multi-Crop Stage Dashboard
A new dashboard view will show all your allocations organized by current growth stage:
- Germination — Which crops are just starting
- Vegetative — Which crops are actively growing
- Flowering — Which crops need pollination monitoring
- Fruiting — Which crops are developing fruit
- Harvest — Which crops are ready or nearly ready
This helps you prioritize daily activities and allocate resources efficiently.
Historical Comparison
After a full season, you will have data to compare:
- Planned vs. actual stage durations
- Weather impact on crop development
- Variety performance differences
- Zone-specific patterns
This historical data improves your planning accuracy each year.
Additional Planned Features
Beyond growth stages, future updates may include:
Crop-Specific Templates
Different crops have different stage patterns:
- Tomatoes: 5 stages (standard)
- Lettuce: 3 stages (germination, growth, harvest)
- Root Crops: Customized stages
- Perennials: Multi-year tracking
Weather Integration
- Automatic stage adjustments based on growing degree days
- Alerts when weather will impact stage timing
- Historical comparison of weather impact
Mobile Enhancements
- Field updates from mobile device
- Photo documentation at each stage
- Voice notes while in field
- Offline mode for remote fields
Preparing for the Update
To get the most from growth stage tracking when it launches:
- Keep allocations current — Update status regularly
- Use accurate dates — Planting and harvest dates drive calculations
- Add notes now — Document observations in current notes field
- Track crop varieties — Different varieties have different timing
Next Steps
- Creating an Allocation — Start planning your crops
- Editing Allocations — Keep information current
- Viewing Allocations — Monitor your season
